JOB DESCRIPTION

Installing, terminating, inspecting, maintenance repair, servicing and wire pulling for security systems, card access systems, voice and data, fire alarms, cctv systems, catv systems, nurse call systems, paging systems and so forth.

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA:

The LIMITED ENERGY AGREEMENT is a statewide agreement with participating locals in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester and Duluth

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

This is a three year apprenticeship program. After three years you will become a Journeyman Installer.

To be considered for the apprenticeship program, applicants must be employed by a signatory contractor to the LIMITED ENERGY AGREEMENT. The local will provide you with a list of contractors.

After a probationary period of 100 days, the contractor may refer the applicant to the JATC at which time he/she must meet the following qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a high school diploma or a GED or a two year associates degree or higher
  • Must be at least 17 years old and 18 by the time of acceptance into apprenticeship
  • Must have completed one (1) year of high school or post high school algebra with a passing grade.
  • Must bring copy of birth certificate.
  • Must provide all official school transcripts or GED records.
  • Must have a qualifying score on the NJATC
  • Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade
  • Must posses and maintain a valid drivers license

HIRING AND SELECTION PROCEDURES

All applicants will need to take the NJATC aptitude test, which is given monthly at the training facility for the apprenticeship program.

Tools Needed

Some basic electricians tools will be needed, but they may be specialized according to the contractor’s work. You will need to ask the contractor for whom you are working.

Transportation Requirements

Worker must provide own transportation.

Hours

Forty (40) hours per week.

Wages

Installer wages start at $11.23 an hour, with a pay increase every six months. After three years you will then be at a Journeyman Installer Level. The current Journeyman Installer wage is $19.72 an hour. These wages are based on 2006. Additional cost of living increases are added every year starting November 1 st . Please be sure to check our website for current updates.

Union Dues

You will become a union member within five working days. There is an initiation fee and monthly dues. Check with the local.
