Locals 65 and 20 have merged to form Local NO. 265. There is one apprenticeship program.

JOB DESCRIPTION

House plastering, cement stucco, covering, plastering, repairing, texture plastering, fireproof construction, plastering on concrete and masonry, etc.

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Applications accepted year-round at following address between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

The program includes 6,000 hours of on-the-job training and at least 144 hours, two nights per week between September and May, of school each year.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a high school diploma or Certificate of Equivalency (GED).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

HIRING AND SELECTION PROCEDURES

Prospective applicants will arrange employment with a participating employer in the industry. The applicant will then be placed in the apprenticeship program.

Tools Needed

Trowels, brushes, etc. Apprenticeship starting kit, offered through the program, costs around $200.

Transportation Requirements

Worker must provide own transportation.

Hours

Eight (8) hours daily usually from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Wages

Apprentice starts at 40% of the wage earned by a journeyperson. A 10% raise is given after every 1,000 hours worked.

Union Dues

Apprentice initiation fee is $175, with at least $75 of that to be paid right away. Journeyman initiation fee is $450.00. Membership dues are $27 each month.
