fireproof construction, plastering on concrete and
masonry, etc.

The program includes
6,000 hours of on-the-job training and at least 144
hours, two nights per week between September and May,
of school each year.
QUALIFICATIONS
HIRING AND SELECTION PROCEDURES
Prospective
applicants will arrange employment with a participating
employer in the industry. The applicant will then be
placed in the apprenticeship program.
Tools Needed
Trowels, brushes, etc. Apprenticeship
starting kit, offered through the program, costs around
$200.
Transportation
Requirements
Worker must provide
own transportation.
Hours
Eight (8) hours daily usually from 7:00
AM to 3:30 PM.
Wages
Apprentice starts at
40% of the wage earned by a journeyperson. A 10% raise
is given after every 1,000 hours worked.
Union
Dues
Apprentice initiation fee is $175,
with at least $75 of that to be paid right away. Journeyman
initiation fee
is $450.00. Membership dues are $27 each month.
